Brain injury

Updated: Mar 20, 2023

In April 2021, I suffered a traumatic brain injury that required life-saving surgery. The expected recovery period was two years, during which I relied heavily on various support networks such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and cognitive retraining. It was a challenging time, but I was fortunate to have access to these resources and support, which played a crucial role in my recovery.

As someone who has experienced firsthand the impact of a disability, I have a deep understanding of the importance of accessibility and inclusion. It was during this period that I realised the need for products that cater to people with additional needs, not just in terms of physical support, but also cognitive and emotional support.

My background in teaching adults with different special educational needs at a further education college, also gave me a deeper knowledge and understanding of the products required to make the world more accessible for people with additional needs. Through my experience as both a teacher and a patient, I have gained invaluable insights into what is required to create products that truly benefit people with disabilities.

This is what has inspired me to start my own business, Inclusive Essentials. I believe that everyone deserves to have access to products that support their needs and enable them to live their lives to the fullest. With Inclusive Essentials, I hope to provide a range of products that not only cater to physical needs but also encourage education, independence, and emotional well-being.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope that by sharing my experiences, I can inspire others to embrace the challenges they face and use them as a source of motivation to make a positive impact in their own lives and the lives of others.
